Big East conference rivals the No. 20 Georgetown Hoyas and the No. 7 Villanova Wildcats clash in NCAA College Basketball action Saturday (12 pm ET, ESPN). After a rough patch that saw them lose four of five games between Dec. 29 and Jan. 12, the Hoyas (15-5 SU, 11-7 ATS and 4-4 Big East) seem revitalized and have won three straight. Villanova (17-3 SU, 10-6 ATS, 5-2 Big East) was roaring through the season up until three games ago, when it lost to the UConn Huskies. The Wildcats bounced back with a huge win over the Syracuse Orange but were then upset by unranked Providence. Head-to-head, the Hoyas have a slight edge at 6-4 SU, while both teams have covered the spread five times in the past 10 meetings. Three of the past four have gone over the over/under total.
This is the first meeting between the teams since last season. They split two games last year. Georgetown won 103-90 on Feb. 6, covering as a 2-point home favorite. The score went well over the total of 151. And Villanova won 82-77 as a 4. 5-point favorite on Jan. 17. The score in that matchup went over the total of 146. 6. Georgetown blew out the St. John's Red Storm 77-52 on Wednesday, cashing as a 7. 5-point home favorite. Villanova lost to Providence as a 6-point road favorite on Wednesday. The Wildcats got a poor effort from their two Coreys - Corey Fisher and Corey Stokes, who combined for just four field goals and one 3-pointer.
